The BMW i8 Concept car or should it be called The BMW
Vision Efficient Dynamics is another contribution of BMW towards
sustainability. The car looks so innovative from every angle as it not
designed in a traditional manner. Very low, aerodynamic, light weight,
sporty, transparent and combination of both electric and fuel combustion
just adds to its glory.
BMW i8 or BMW Vision car’s innovative plug-in hybrid combines the modified electric drive system from BMW i3 concept car, fitted over front and rear axle with a high performance 3-cylinder combustion engine giving 164 kW/220 hp and 250 km/h of top speed. Its acceleration of 0 to 100 in less than 5 seconds and fuel consumption of 3.7 liters per 100 km(approx) makes it a high performance car giving a tough competition to any other car of combustion engine. Its eDrive technology in the lithium-ion battery which is chargeable from a domestic power supply helps travel the car upto 50 km on electric power alone.
BMW i8 represents the exiting look of aerodynamics in which BMW sees a future sports car. Specialty of this car also lies in its capability to drive in both fuel and electric mode together and hence will give the performance what is expected from BMW and recharges its battery from the internal combustion engine. BMW Vision looks are so simple and yet so innovative symbolizing the lightness in weight due to carbon in its material.
